As you may be aware, a Mikvah is a very integral part of our Jewish existence and way of life. This is demonstrated as a matter of fact, as Halachic ruling states that if one should find himself in a city without a Mikvah, he has an obligation to build a Mikvah before a Synagogue.

Over the past 7 years, our experience has highlighted and demonstrated this importance, as hundreds of women visiting Jamaica have reached out to Chabad for the use of a Mikvah.

A TOURIST VISITING JAMAICA IN 2016 WRITES:

“... My time to use the mikveh (ritual bath) fell out on an evening while I was vacationing in Jamaica. I looked online and saw that there was a Chabad in Montego Bay. However, there was no mikveh yet in Montego Bay nor on the entire island.
I am not the typical Jewish woman that you would expect to use the mikveh on a monthly basis. I don’t wear long skirts and I don’t belong to an Orthodox synagogue. But I am spiritual, and visiting the mikveh is one commandment given to Jewish women (along with lighting Friday night candles) that I feel very connected to.

RECENTLY, IN DECEMBER 2020, WE GOT A CALL WITH A REQUEST TO TAKE A WOMAN TO THE MIKVAH.

It was a stormy Saturday night, with heavy winds and high waves, in addition to the covid curfew restrictions. Given the circumstances, it seemed only logical to postpone the mikvah night.

However, a firm resolution was made to persevere and not to let these obstacles be a deterrent. Despite all the difficulties, arrangements were made to take the women to the ocean to immerse and fulfill this important mitzvah.

We were unaware at that time how important it was for this woman to immerse on time and how it would impact her life. This woman has been struggling with infertility for 5 long years and timing was crucial for her.

We are filled with emotion but proud to announce that she is presently expecting a child and we pray to G‑d that she should have a healthy baby in the right auspicious hour.

Just imagine the continued benefit to the numerous women that will visit this Mikvah.

The most trying times in Jewish history has seen great personal sacrifices made to ensure a Mikvah was built and operational for the sake of preservation and continuity of Jewish rite.

Now you too can be a very important part of ensuring our Jewish continuity!

Your donation towards the construction of this Mikvah in Jamaica will be an eternal gift, benefitting hundreds and thousands.

Thanks to a most generous grant of $75K, we have began construction and are forging strongly ahead. This dream however requires at minimum an additional $75K to bring to completion and fruition.

Are you willing to write your name into history? Help us make history in Jamaica and the world, the time is now!

As expressed earlier, your gift extends beyond our immediate community and is expected to have a positive impact on the numerous visitors annually.

CAN WE COUNT ON YOU?

May you reap the rewards of participating in this mitzvah with revealed blessings in your personal life.

May you enjoy unlimited nachat from your children, with health and happiness and success in all of your endeavors.

Thank you!
